Muskegon Community College forms transfer agreement with Cornerstone University

Muskegon Community College and Cornerstone University have formed an articulation agreement that will create a seamless transfer pathway for students who wish to continue their education with earning a bachelor degree. The agreement was signed on July 22, 2026.

According to an article on Muskegon Community College’s website, Dr. John Selmon, the college’s president, was quoted as saying of the partnership with Cornerstone University, “Cornerstone University’s willingness to rethink the traditional college model is exactly why this partnership is so exciting. We’re proud to work alongside Cornerstone to expand opportunities and help even more MCC students achieve their educational and career goals.”

Cornerstone University provides a subscription-style tuition model through its SOAR program, which allows students to advance through their courses at their own pace and can complete their courses entirely on their smartphones. The SOAR model also has students pay for their tuition using a flat-rate four-month subscription instead of per credit hour.

The SOAR program, according to its webpage on Cornerstone University’s website, gives students access to a “high-quality, accredited degree at a fraction of the cost of most online programs. No expensive textbooks, mandatory fees, hidden costs or pricey tech.” Students will pay $2,400 per four-month term, with students also eligible to receive scholarships, grants, and employer reimbursements. Currently, the SOAR program is for students seeking business degrees, including an associate degree in Strategic Business Management, a bachelor degree in Strategic Business Management, and master’s degree in Organizational Leadership.

The partnership will introduce Muskegon Community College students to the SOAR model, something students seeking to transfer to the university for a business degree will be able to take advantage of. Additionally, MCC students who are earning an associate degree in Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Education, Health Sciences, Information Technology, Nursing, Psychology, or Social Work will be able to seamlessly transfer into the university’s bachelor degree programs.
