Indiana State University receives gift to support endowment and establish Hosking Family–Rapid Reproductions Interior Architecture Design Lab

Indiana State University has received a $750,000 gift from the Hosking family to support engineering and technology students through bolstering the existing endowment for the Hosking Family–Rapid Reproductions Scholarship and through establishing the Hosking Family–Rapid Reproductions Interior Architecture Design Lab.

According to an article on Indiana State University’s website, university President Mike Godard was quoted as saying of the Hosking’s most recent gift, “The Hosking family understands something we believe deeply at Indiana State: when we invest in students, we invest in the future of our communities. Their generosity will open doors for Sycamores pursuing engineering and technology, providing both the financial support and the modern learning spaces they need to succeed. This gift also honors a family whose entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the Wabash Valley have made a lasting difference. We are grateful for their trust in Indiana State and, most of all, for their belief in our students.”

The endowed Hosking Family–Rapid Reproductions Scholarship was previously established to honor the legacy of Tom and Mary Hosking and Kenneth and Zorah Syphax. The scholarship provides financial support to undergraduate students who are studying engineering or technology. Preference is given to students from west-central Indiana and eastern Illinois. 

Rapid Reproductions, a printing, equipment, and graphics company, was founded by Kenneth and Zorah Syphax more than five decades ago. The company, as a local business, plays an important role in the community and helps support the education of local students.

Mary Hosking passed away in 2019 and Tom Hosking passed away in 2025. Following the passing of their parents, Gary and Jane Hosking and Brian and Kelly Hosking made additional gifts to the endowed scholarship.

Gary Hosking said, "Our family has always believed that investing in students is one of the best ways to invest in our community. My parents, Tom and Mary Hosking, along with Ken and Zorah Syphax, cared deeply about helping others succeed. It is our hope that this scholarship and the Hosking Family–Rapid Reproductions Interior Architecture Design Lab will inspire students to pursue their passions, achieve their goals, and ultimately give back to their own communities."

The Hosking Family–Rapid Reproductions Interior Architecture Design Lab will be located in the newly renovated Bailey College of Engineering and Technology, which is projected to open in the spring of 2027.
