Argiri will be in charge of multiple departments related to the school’s financial operations.
Elizabeth “Libby” Argiri has recently been named as the new Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services at Oakland Community College. She took office on June 29.
Most recently, Argiri served at Macomb Community College as the Executive Vice President of Administration. In that position, she was in charge of purchasing and finance, human resources and information technology, facilities and central services, financial aid, and budget and grants. She also served as the MCC Foundation’s treasurer.
In her new position at Oakland Community College, Argiri will be in charge of the school’s Purchasing and Auxiliary Services, Physical Facilities and Public Safety, Budget and Planning, and Financial Operations departments.
In an article posted on Oakland Community College’s website, OCC Chancellor Peter Provenzano, Jr. spoke highly of Argiri, saying, “Libby brings strong financial and operational leadership, experienced higher education and business acumen, and a strong understanding of challenges and opportunities facing our region. She distinguished herself as the unanimous top candidate for her commitment to student success, collaborative leadership style and forward-thinking approach.”
Argiri’s predecessor is Christina “Tina” Kostiuk, who retired from the position back in February.
Argiri is a resident of Clinton Township, and spoke with excitement about joining OCC, and partnering with the other members of the leadership team. She said, “OCC’s unwavering commitment to student success and advancing the community is both inspiring and meaningful. I look forward to bringing my experience and expertise to OCC to help strengthen college operations, support innovation, expand opportunities and contribute to student success and the communities we serve.”
Argiri earned her Master of Business Administration in Integrative Management as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Michigan State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant. She also serves as chair for the Michigan Community College Risk Management Authority and as chair and treasurer of the Audit Committee for Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union.
